Privacy Policy

Effective: April 29, 2026 · Crimson Business Consulting, LLC

This Privacy Policy explains how Crimson Business Consulting, LLC ("CBC," "we," or "us") collects, uses, and protects information from visitors to crimsonbc.com, people who submit our contact form or intake form, subscribers to the Crabcakes & Commerce newsletter, and clients of our consulting services. CBC is based in Baltimore, Maryland.

Plain-English summary. We collect what you send us — name, email, phone, organization, your message, and how you found us. We use that information to respond, schedule, and serve you. We don't sell it. You can ask us to delete it any time.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Contact form & intake form: name, email address, phone number, organization, service area of interest, how you heard about CBC, and the content of your message.
  • Newsletter signup (Crabcakes & Commerce): email address.
  • Consultation booking: the information you provide to Google Calendar Appointment Scheduling when booking a discovery call (typically name, email, and any notes).
  • Active engagements: any business, financial, or operational information you choose to share with us in the course of a consulting engagement, governed by the engagement letter we sign with you.

Information collected automatically

  • Web analytics: standard server logs and Google Ads / Google Tag Manager tracking — IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral source, and similar.
  • Cookies: we use essential cookies to operate the site and (where applicable) Google's advertising and analytics cookies to measure traffic and ad performance.

2. How we use information

  • To respond to your inquiry, schedule a consultation, and deliver the consulting services you've engaged us for.
  • To send the Crabcakes & Commerce newsletter to subscribers (you can unsubscribe in any newsletter or by emailing info@crimsonbc.com).
  • To improve the website and understand which content and channels are most useful to Maryland small businesses.
  • To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations applicable to a Maryland-registered LLC.

3. Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share information only with service providers we use to operate the business — for example: Netlify (website hosting), Google Workspace (email and calendar), our newsletter service, our accounting software — and only the information they need to do their job. Each of those vendors is bound by their own privacy and security commitments.

We may disclose information if required by law (subpoena, court order, etc.) or to protect the safety, rights, or property of CBC, our clients, or the public.

4. Confidentiality of engagement information

Information you share during an active or prospective consulting engagement is treated as confidential under the terms of the engagement letter. Note that CBC is not a law firm; sharing information with CBC does not create an attorney-client relationship and is not protected by attorney-client privilege. If a matter requires privileged legal advice, we will refer you to qualified Maryland counsel.

5. Data retention

We retain contact-form submissions and intake forms for up to 24 months. We retain newsletter-subscriber email addresses until you unsubscribe. Engagement records are retained per the terms of the relevant engagement letter, our standard accounting/tax retention obligations, and applicable Maryland law.

6. Your choices

  • Access & correction: email info@crimsonbc.com to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: email info@crimsonbc.com to request deletion. We will honor reasonable requests subject to records we are required to retain by law.
  • Newsletter: click "unsubscribe" in any Crabcakes & Commerce email, or email us.
  • Cookies: you can disable cookies in your browser; some site features may stop working as expected.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever experience a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable Maryland and U.S. law.

8. Children

CBC's services and website are intended for adults engaged in business or research. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated via the website or, where appropriate, by email to active clients.
