Legal Assistance
Plain-English legal help for Maryland's everyday business needs. Formation, contracts, employment, IP, and risk.
Collaborative Partnership
We work with you, not just for you — every strategy is built together.
Maryland-Focused
We know Maryland, and we know the people. Those relationships give your business a real edge.
Results-Driven
Every engagement is tied to results you can measure.
Business Formation & Structure
Your legal structure sets the base for everything that follows. We help you weigh the options — LLC, corporation, or partnership. Then we get the paperwork and registrations in order, so you start on solid footing.
Note: CBC provides business consulting and legal-insight guidance. CBC performs legal work — legal advice or representation — only when a signed engagement letter expressly designates the work as legal services; in that case it is handled by CBC's Maryland-barred principal and an attorney-client relationship is formed for that defined scope. Unless your engagement expressly establishes legal services, no legal work is performed and no attorney-client relationship is created.
- Entity selection guidance (LLC / Corp / Partnership)
- Articles of organization & formation filings
- Operating agreements & bylaws
- EIN & state / local registrations
- Ownership & equity structure
Contracts & Agreements
Clear contracts prevent expensive disputes. We review and help draft the everyday agreements your business relies on — so you understand what you're signing and your interests are protected.
- Client & service agreements
- Vendor & supplier contracts
- NDAs & confidentiality agreements
- Independent-contractor agreements
- Contract review & plain-English explanations
Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
Maryland businesses face a web of state and local rules. We help you find which ones apply to you, get licensed, and stay in good standing every year.
- Business licensing & permits
- Maryland & local regulatory requirements
- Industry-specific compliance
- Annual reports & filings
- Compliance calendar & reminders
Employment & HR Foundations
When you start hiring, the rules change. We help you set up the right documents and policies, so you bring people on the right way and lower your risk.

Legal Insight Consulting Pricing
Every price is published and every price is the actual price. Anything not listed here starts with a Foundations Session ($400) to scope it — credited in full toward any package within 60 days.
Educational and document-preparation support — the informed middle ground between do-it-yourself online filing services and a $1,500 attorney engagement. We tell you plainly when something needs formal legal counsel; when it does, we either handle it under a separate engagement letter that expressly designates legal services, or refer you to a licensed Maryland attorney.
| Service | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Entity Setup Guidance | $400 | Guided formation walkthrough, EIN registration guidance, operating agreement template orientation, and your compliance calendar. State filing fees (currently $150–$425 depending on speed) are paid directly to the state — never marked up. |
| Contracts & Compliance Insight | $750 | Plain-English orientation on up to two contracts or client documents, plus a compliance checklist for your industry and county |
Maryland filing fees are set by the State Department of Assessments & Taxation and paid directly to the state: $100 filing + $50 expedited (all online filings are expedited) = $150; same-day rush is $325 online or $425 by paper. Source: SDAT Corporate Charter Fee Schedule (checked August 16, 2026). Employment & HR, intellectual property, and risk-management matters are scoped in a Foundations Session and priced as Contracts & Compliance Insight where they fit, or referred to counsel where they don't.
